Membership Update and Dues Reminder
March 24, 2009
Dear valued member :
As weather warms up and snow melts away, outdoor tennis is about to regain its due priority. Your Board is reviewing final details for unofficial play by mid-April on hard courts (nets will be up but the clubhouse will be closed) and official Club opening by May 4, 2009. We usually cannot play on the clay courts before a few days into May due to the frost. It takes a little more time to unthaw the pipes underneath the courts.
Here are some dates that you should already put in your agenda:
- Monday, May 4th - clubhouse officially opens at 8:00 a.m.
- Monday, May 11th – 1st official Monday mixed Round Robin at 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- Wednesday, May 13th - 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.- 1st official Wednesday mixed Round Robin (intermediate level)
- Friday, May 15th at 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. – 1st official Friday mixed Round Robin at 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- Saturday, May 30 - Junior and Senior Round Robin Openers and Fashion Show featuring models from the RLTC and clothing from Tommy & Lefebvre and Desserts Social
- Saturday, June 13th - Diplomat Tournament - 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Friday, June 19th - 6:00 p.m. ANNUAL CLUB SOCIAL
We assume that the Club By-laws is not a document that you keep on your night table for reading enjoyment. At this time of the year, it may be worth sharing the main rules and regulations approved by members regarding membership:
- “Annual fees are due and payable on the first day of April in each year” (8.1, c). Since one of the Board’s responsibilities is to make sure that the Club’s rules and regulations are respected, all individuals who have not paid their dues at official opening will be asked to pay playing Guest fees or pay applicable membership fees without delay.
- “Social Members are non-playing members of the Club” (1.2, j). The Board has instructed the Club staff to make sure that there is no exception in a spirit of fairness to members having paid their full playing privileges. If a member converts this season from a regular playing member to a social membership, this particular member will need to pay the one-time levy to reconvert to regular playing membership in the future.
- “…No person may be admitted as a playing Guest more than five (5) times per year…” (2.9). A regular member is responsible for registering a playing Guest and for ensuring that the guest conforms to rules and regulations of the Club, including the dress code.
Again, we thank you for caring for our wonderful community Club. If any of you has any questions regarding the above, the Club Manager, Ms. Vera Cody will be happy to answer you.
Yours truly,
Your RLTC Board
